**FitnessFor is not a medical service. This page explains what we are, what we are not, and how to use the App safely.**
What FitnessFor Is
FitnessFor is a **fitness programming application** that uses AI to generate personalized exercise plans and deliver educational health and wellness content to adult users. It is a consumer fitness tool, not a medical device, clinical service, or healthcare provider.
What FitnessFor Is Not
- **Not a medical device.** FitnessFor has not been reviewed or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any equivalent regulatory body. [ATTORNEY REVIEW REQUIRED: Confirm non-device classification with attorney familiar with FDA digital health guidance and Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) framework]
- **Not a substitute for medical advice.** Nothing in this App — including AI-generated coaching text, exercise recommendations, habit tips, or educational content — constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- **Not a mental health service.** The App does not provide therapy, counseling, or psychiatric services.
- **Not a substitute for a qualified fitness professional.** AI-generated programming is a starting point. Consult a certified personal trainer or physical therapist if you have specific movement limitations.
Before You Begin
**Consult your physician before starting any new exercise program**, particularly if any of the following apply to you:
- You have been told by a doctor that you have a heart condition
- You experience chest pain during or at rest
- You have lost balance due to dizziness or have lost consciousness
- You are currently pregnant or may be pregnant
- You have had surgery in the past 6 months
- Your blood pressure is not under control
- You have a musculoskeletal injury, chronic pain condition, or movement limitation
- You take prescription medications that affect heart rate, blood pressure, or exercise capacity
This list is not exhaustive. When in doubt, ask your doctor.
During Exercise
**Stop immediately and seek medical attention if you experience:**
- Chest pain or tightness
- Dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint
- Shortness of breath disproportionate to the effort
- Heart palpitations or irregular heartbeat
- Sudden severe pain in any joint or muscle
- Numbness or tingling in your extremities
The in-app session player provides a **"Something Hurts"** button at all times. Use it to pause a session and route to a safe alternative or exit. This button does not replace emergency medical care.
About Our Educational Content
Educational content ("tidbit cards") sourced from our Claims Library is:
- Drawn from peer-reviewed research and human-vetted sources
- Cited with source references available via "tap to see source"
- Scoped to structure/function statements (e.g., "resistance training supports muscle recovery")
- Never presented as treatment, cure, or diagnosis for any condition
> **Educational content, not medical advice — see our Medical Disclaimer.**
This disclaimer appears wherever Claims Library content is displayed in the App.
Assumption of Risk
Physical exercise involves inherent risk of injury. By using FitnessFor, you acknowledge that:
- You are voluntarily participating in an exercise program.
- You have assessed and accept the physical risks associated with exercise.
- FitnessFor is not responsible for any injury, illness, or adverse outcome arising from your use of the App.
[ATTORNEY REVIEW REQUIRED: This section should be aligned with and cross-referenced to the assumption of risk language in the Terms of Service and the in-app readiness waiver. Attorney should confirm this language is adequate in your jurisdiction and does not need to be a signed separate document]
Postpartum and Pregnancy
If you indicated pregnancy or postpartum status during onboarding, the App applies conservative exercise filters (pelvic floor–safe, low-impact variants) and requires physician clearance before plan generation. These filters are a starting point — postpartum and pregnancy exercise needs vary significantly by individual. Work with your OB-GYN, midwife, or pelvic floor physiotherapist to determine what is appropriate for you.
[ATTORNEY REVIEW REQUIRED: Review postpartum/pregnancy guidance language with a specialist familiar with perinatal exercise guidelines (e.g., ACOG) and liability exposure]
